HDT: Hayes Diversified Technologies mini-site produced in conjunction with Goutam Mitra and Wellbrand in a seriously short timeframe. New Logo + branding, photo shoots, video editing, collateral, and website were all turned around in basically a week.
We were fortunate that we got to help with the design, build, and launch of the website and are pleased with the results given the timeframe.
Client: HDT, Wellbrand

Bright, fun, and organic… very nice baby products at Little Twig. We were fortunate enough to help re-design the site and integrate a Miva Merchant shopping cart for this boutique startup. Flash, HTML.
Little Twig is one of the projects that was lost in the theft. We do have a few additional screenshots that we’ll put up at some point, but the majority of the original build is gone forever.

The newest iteration of Blind’s site is all XHTML and CSS driven. While the previous site was all Flash, this design+build let us show more and do more with the amount of work and content Blind has to show off. The site isn’t meant to be the star … their work is. One of our primary goals was to design a modular site that could be extended and easily maintained.

The initial concepts for this Scion owner community site were definitely more along the lines of Scion’s non-traditional form of advertising to its base. The final concept is based on a city of garages where a garage represents an individual owner in the Scion community. Users may setup profiles and customize their garage with custom art, design, graffiti, objects, doors, walls, and interiors. Additional community aspects include: News, Add Friends, Personal Profile information (aside from garages), Groups, Forums, and Scion information (I could go on). The mood of the site leans toward a rich video game experience but strongly adheres to Scion’s initial brand guidelines of type and “night-brand” color palette.
One of the highlights of the project is the customization tool (technically speaking). We consolidated tool functionality for customization by integrating all controls into one floating panel. The outer circular control handles color tint, brightness, and opacity of a selected object on screen. The inner circular control is for the rotation of an object. Scaling of an object is controlled by the box in the center. Aside from being able to use the controller to tweak objects, users may scale, drag, and delete the object where it is on screen: Truly a compact WYSIWYG interface.

Median is our internal CMS (content management system). The first two versions were all Flash based and were more experience oriented. We switched to an Ajax version in 2006. Now we’re at a no-nonsense version that simply works.

The Mo/de Project (mode) site design is actually based on a letterpress DVD kit for their reel. We scanned the board, matched the shadow, pulled some patterns and textures. Craft style visual design like this can take a wrong turn in a heartbeat. The end-result closely matches their promotional collateral so that there is a well branded cohesion between the visuals.

How often do you get to screen a film before it is even edited with sound and music? Well, if you live in LA probably more than you would think. We absorbed the pre-edit film and put together a simple solution that matched the tone of the film. The music is a great match to Terry Green’s vision.
Official Film Site designed and developed for Strata Productions and Director Terry Green. We supplied Creative Direction, Flash Build+Development, Design, DVD, and Print. Thanks to Kevin Sharon for lending a hand as lead designer for the web portion.

Creative Direction, Design, Illustration, Flash Build, CMS for S3MX.
S3MX records original music and audio. Their site uses a plane parallax style animation when transitioning between content. There is a huge background image with several transparent images that reposition themselves at different speeds. the images represent different recording equipment and gear … microphones, cables, amps, speakers …
We will post a working version or video for posterity.

Interactive map of architecture from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica along the famous and historical Wilshire Blvd. is still one of our favorite projects we’ve ever worked on. It involves maps, history, architecture, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Wilshire Blvd., humanity, photos, information, and story telling for a good cause.
Techincal Notes: The buildings are placed on the map dynamically from a visual GUI that tracks X and Y coordinates. All building data is stored in the database and can be updated via a custom CMS. The map itself is a a vector image that is nearly 6000 px wide and is scaled appropriately for the view finder. A user can navigate via drop-down, clicking a mini-map, dragging the map, selecting a building, zoom in, zoom out, zoom to a building, and zoom to a location on the map. Resizing the browser will center the entire area as well.
Huge props to Nikolai Cornell and Casey Sheehan
